What is wavemusic?

wavemusic originated in Los Angeles, California, when the radio station THE WAVE was established there in 1988, playing laid-back music ranging from pop to jazz and soul around the clock. This type of music came to be known as smooth jazz and had an audience of millions. THE WAVE had created innovative radio, giving lots of artists the opportunity to be heard for the first time and initiating the successes of names such as Rick Braun, Fourplay, Candy Dulfer, The Rippingtons and many more.

California Sunset Records was created in 1998 and stemmed from the idea of releasing CDs to help these artists make it on the European music market. But the label increasingly wanted to introduce new top-class acts somewhere between pop and jazz and beyond smooth jazz to a mature audience – as a welcome alternative to the monotonous music churned out by the media.

There is huge demand out there for agreeable music with some substance and California Sunset Records endeavours to meet this demand with its wavemusic CDs.

California Sunset Records currently promotes concerts, releases CDs and creates radio programmes. In all of this, its primary objective is to unite quality with light-heartedness and raise public awareness of new artists.
